Guide to Air Duct Cleaning

Dust . . . Its Effect!

Dust aggravates breathing problems, causes burning eyes and itching skin, and makes allergy problems worse. Health agencies, doctors and scientific researchers claim that airborne dust may be one of the worst causes of health related problems.

Did you know that common house dust is more dangerous than outdoor dust? It has bacteria, pollen, skin flakes, decaying organic matter, fungi, hair, dust mites, viruses, textile fibers, residue from chemicals and many other contaminants.

In addition to the health problems dust costs you money. Dirty air makes wall coverings, carpets, upholstery and clothing get dirty quicker.

Your Home/Workplace and Your Health

Not too many years ago we could all breathe clean air but today due to the polluted air problems we find ourselves needing medicines to treat the symptoms. Billions of dollars are spent each year on medications to help us breathe.

Today our homes and workplaces are air tight and energy efficient but they trap dust and contaminants inside and that's the air we breathe. The American Lung Association estimates that we spend 90% of our time indoors. Indoor air pollution can be 2 to 3 times more than outdoors. It's easy to see how your home or workplace could be harmful to your health.

Central Air Duct Systems and Disease

Homes and offices are surrounded by dust. Carpet, drapes, furnishings, and window coverings and most of all your central heating and air systems.

Frequent filter changes cannot stop the contamination. Disposable filters stop less than 10% of dust and pollen. 90% passes through the filters into the air ducts.

Contamination builds up over time in your air system. Heat and moisture are introduced into your air ducts both in the heating and cooling season which acts as an incubator (causing germs, fungi, bacteria and dust mites to grow). Vacuuming alone cannot take care of the contaminants. Sanitizing and sealing is required.

Thousands of sick buildings have been traced to have contaminated air systems including the Legionnaire's outbreak that killed 29 people in 1976. (As reported by the National Center for Disease Control.)

How Air-Care Decontaminates

Trained Air-Care Technicians carefully remove registers and supply vents. A powerful HEPA Vacuum is connected to a supply vent opening and then each air duct is brushed with a power cable and brush or compressed air with our Sidewinder to loosen the dirt and dust while the Super Turbo Vacuum is pulling the contaminated material into the HEPA vacuum system. This system creates absolutely no mess.

All the vents are thoroughly washed and disinfected using E.P.A. approved disinfectant.

While the Super Turbo Vacuum is connected to one of the supply vents all of the air ducts are fogged with Soot Set Sealer, E.P.A. approved disinfectant and Odor Kill deodorant assuring complete coverage and decontamination.

The main heating and cooling system is cleaned thoroughly including the motor, case and fan. This area is then fogged with Soot Set Sealer, E.P.A. approved disinfectant and Odor Kill deodorant.

All registers and vents are reinstalled and Solid Odor Kill deodorant blocks are placed into the return register opening. This product controls the odors for up to three months. Finally, Air-Care Technicians will install new optional High Tech permanent Electrostatic Air Filters, which are up to eleven times more efficient than disposable filters, and they come with a life time guarantee.
